A Chihuahua First Aid and Emergency Kit
Dog owners can treat minor injuries for their pets if they have the appropriate remedies, tools, and equipment available. The following items are included in a first aid kit for home use.

Gauze & Vet Wrap

Triple antibiotic ointment

Rubbing alcohol

Ear syringe (select the smallest you can find)

Ace self-adhering athletic bandage

White petroleum jelly

Eye wash or saline solution

Sterile, non-adherent pads

Malanta Supreme (Cherry or Orange Cream flavor)

Childrens Benadryl for Allergies (1/2 teaspoon for a 5 pound dog for allergic prevention, 1 tsp. for a 5 pound dog already reacting)

Hydrocortisone Acetate -- one percent cream

Keopectate for children (cherry or bubblegum flavor)

Baby aspirin (1/2 baby asprin twice a day for a 5 pound Chihuahua)

Rescue Remedy (use as directed to calm your Chihuahua from frightened or stressed state)

Hydrogen peroxide

Nutri-Cal (or some source of sugar) Light Karo syrup or honey may be used but it is not as effective as Nutri-Cal.

Bandage scissors

Quick Stop (to stop bleeding, may use corn starch or flour for a natural remedy to stop bleeding )

Jar of Gerber Stage #2 Bananas (add to food when you want to firm up loose poop)

Jar of Gerber Stage #2 Pears (to be added to food in the event of constipation)

Container to store the first aid supplies in (plastic storage bin with a tight fitting lid, small plastic tool box, fishing tackle box, etc. Size depends on amount of supplies you want to have on hand.)

Paperwork: includes the dog's health record, current medications, local and national poison control numbers, regular veterinary clinic hours and telephone numbers, and emergency clinic hours and telephone number.

Fresh water and a weeks supply of dog food should be included in your first aid kit just in case you're stuck at home without access to a store .
