Healthy Choices for your pet

by Renee Szczepanski of Judy's Pet Treats ( 4-Apr-2011 )

The standard question asked is feeding my dog more naturally worth it? What a dog drinks and eats is all they have to build and maintain their health.  Food can be either a medicine that heals them or a poison that harms them. Nutritional deficiencies can cause a multitude of ailments such as:

·         Allergies (hyper-sensitive to their environment)

·         Gas issues

·         Bad breath

·         Dull coat

·         Infections

·         Worms

·         Gets fleas easily

·         Aggression or Timidity – a change in behavior

·         Illnesses such as epilepsy, some cancers.

This is just a short list. Many conditions, diseases and behavioral problems can be traced back to the nutritional content of a dog’s food. Despite the labeling on commercial dog foods, not all commercial foods are beneficial to your pet. Commercial foods have very little moisture which means a dog will drink more when fed only commercial food to get the hydration it needs. Unprocessed, fresh, natural food has a high moisture content.  In addition, commercial dog foods are highly processed and during that processing nutrients are lost. In some brands, some nutrients are added in after the processing but usually in a less absorbable form for your dog.

Therefore a diet that is an unprocessed, fresh and natural is healthiest for your dog.  Judy’s Pet Treats is made with natural, organic ingredients. Many of our products are bought fresh from local farms or when in-season from our own garden. We treat your dog as if we are feeding our own dog.
