How to choose the right urn for your loved one

Choosing the right urn for a loved one does not have to be a difficult decision. The first factor is the material from which your urn will be made.  Here you have many options, from gold-plated platinum, ceramic, stone, wood, and even organics for rapid biodegradability. The second factor is the quality of the workmanship. Are you looking for an urn to pass down through the generations? Or will it reside in a mausoleum? What should it look like at the time of your service? The third factor is personalization. What if any personalization would you like for your loved one? Do you want it to reflect them and their loves in life? Or would you prefer something more understated yet classy? The fourth factor is capacity. Will it be for one or two? A good rule of thumb is to purchase an urn with no less than 1 cubic inch per pound. For example a 180 puond individual would require no less than 180 cubic inch capacity urn. Or course for double capacity urns you would use the combined weight of both parties. Finally is the cost. As with anything, if it sounds too good to be true it is. There are many companies out there offering urns at extremely low prices, but you will find the quality substandard. At the other extreme are the sites claiming to be wholesale with ridiculous retail pricing, where even after the "discount" you still end up paying full retail price. Buyer beware of the high production companies. Look for a company that will cater to you, not just ship you an urn. You will find a wide variety of urns out there, and if you compare based on the above factors you should be able to find the right urn for you and your loved one.
