How to make your Vacation $$ go even further and have more fun & relaxation!  1.  Travel within the USA instead of flying overseas etc.  We recently completed a "Bucket List" of wonderful unique areas and parks that more than compare with anything overseas!  2. Use the Visitors Bureaus in almost any area or contact the local Chamber of Commerce for not to be missed events and activities near a destination that you have heard about.  3. Also contact Vacation Rental Managers, both for just single homes and multiple listings.  Often the single home Manager is more knowledgeable that the larger Property Managers and they take special pride in their home and want to make sure each guest's stay is the best that it can be. For example, check out this link for activites and events that are happening during your stay!  4.  Consider renting a vacation home vs staying at a motel or hotel.  Eating out every meal can add from $25-$40 per person per day to the cost of staying, which added to the safety and convience for your kids and/or pets, more that off-sets the percieved cost of a vacation home.  There are more than 500 homes from cozy bungalows to elegant family/friend reunion manors in the greater Santa Cruz area.  Call early (Oct to Feb) before the Summer you want to stay for the best rates and availablity.  5.  The 29-miles of sandy beaches are the world best baby-sitters so you can have some R&R too!  6.  Bring your 4-footed friends instead of boarding them as walking around some of these wonderful neighborhoods with their beautiful gardens and unique architecture will make a memorable Free part of your stay.  7.  Consider taking a beginers surf lesson from many of the local surf schools who guarantee to have you up on a board, riding a wave, on your first lesson!  Surfing as a hobby is much less expensive than golf or skiing as there are no lift line tickets or greens fees!  8.  Free entertainment at several Beaches, especially the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk on Friday nights and at the Capitola Beach on Wedesday night during summer are just some of the great musical events that are either free or for a minor addmission. 9.  The local museums specializing in everything from Surf History, Local Californian History and even Big Foot Sighting locator museum are not to be missed.  10. A hidden Gem is the Mid-County Activity Center that has over 35 different activities that start at just $3.50 and are open to all ages.  Try Ping Pong, Bingo, Drawing & Watercolor, Ukelele classes, etc. and our newest activity, the Wise Ones Workshop (WOW) that happens the first Monday of the Month and give you one-to-one access with wonderful locals who love to share their favorites fun in the great area! Also check out TLN, Tuesday Night Live for a dinner with locals that includes live music  and your choice of several fresh salads, a unique entree, vegetables, garlic bread and pie ala-mode.  Check out the website at this 829 Bay Ave, Capitola CA 95010 for the menu of fun!
