Slalom Waterski Deepwater Start (1 foot in)

Here are some tips on 1 foot in waterskiing deepwater starts: 1.  Flex the knees and ankles and make sure the front knee is as close to your chest as possible.  The back foot will act as a rudder to help with balance (point your big toe behind you).  The more compressed you are, the better! 2.  Rope handle goes on the opposite side of front foot.  (Right foot in front, rope on left; left foot in front, rope on right). 3.  Hold the handle with both palms down (learn the baseball grip later).  Arms straight out, chin towards chest. 4.  Focus on staying compressed and keeping the ski straight up above the water.  Don’t stand up (straighten legs) until the ski comes out of the water.  Let the Boat do all the work! 5.  Slowly stand up by bringing your hips towards the handle (hips forward, shoulders back).   Use your legs not your arms (arms should always be straight). 6.  Look forwards toward the boat (not at the water and not at the sky) 7.  Utilize your back foot (point big toe behind you) for balance and then SLOWLY slip foot in the rear binding. Tip:  Patience is KEY!  Don’t be in a rush to stand up and don’t be in a rush to put your rear foot in the binding.
