Some Thoughts on a Free Society

by Bradley Gay of Freedom For Americans ( 13-Apr-2012 )

Freedom For Americans stands for individual liberty for all persons in the United States. We believe that it is necessary for all of us that believe in the natural liberties granted to us by our very existence and codified in the Bill of Rights to stand together in the fight to continue to maintain our freedom. While it is difficult to see that it is a fight sometimes, with most of us never having to literally fight to be free, it is indeed a gift that was bestowed to us by our ancestors.

These men and women knew what tyranny was and the chains that prevent people from being free. Most in the United States have never had this experience. America is exceptional in this aspect because it has been a country that was specifically set up to be ruled by its own people. What large group of people, acting under their own free will, would not want a free society? The people of the United States did and have fought war after war not only to keep Her free but to liberate other nations as well. I would be willing to bet that hardly any of those soldiers actually liked war but they understood the truth that freedom is not free. Just around the corner of a free society is a tyrant that does not care about your comfort but only about what it would be like if he ruled you.

But the Founders also realized that only if the people maintained the necessity of a moral conscience would they understand the value and the reason to fight for liberty. The previously slow but now rapidly progressing erosion of a core value system into an illogical and chaotic philosophy of individual moral relativism has allowed us to recently accept leaders that do not represent model behavior but instead manipulate public opinion the best.

A people whose first concern is the wellbeing and freedom of all, should be willing to self-sacrifice a perceived benefit if the cost of that benefit is an elected representative that will not uphold and defend the freedom of all the people they serve. After all, they are in office because of the people that died for this very freedom they are paid to defend.

It is not tolerable for our elected persons to talk around the Constitution or to call it archaic, or to say that it can be re-interpreted depending on the period that we live in. It is not acceptable to not look at it when creating legislation larger than the telephone book. As citizens of the United States of America, this is our first law, our guide book - that which has allowed so many to be free for so long.

There are some in power today that believe the Constitution leaves people out yet cannot point to anywhere in the document where that is true They believe that the real solution is top down power where their utopian vision of how the world should look can be implemented. They have a short-sighted vision and hubris that the ideology that they believe in can be more powerful than the collected ideas of thousands of years of successful civilizations steered to an even more unprecedented success by the millions of free citizens that have guided this nation over the past 235 years.

These ideologues march an agenda forward that everyone must bow to or face the threat of belittling or elimination. They use the model of target, isolate, and destroy that world leaders of the past have used successfully only to end in disaster. Yes, today’s isolation and destruction is more verbal and financial than physical but the model is still the same and if not aggressively checked will end in the same results.

The groans for freedom in the human heart can never be quenched. We are not a people that wish to be divided the way many in the national media so enjoy. Money and stories come their way when we are at each other’s throats but if we look each other in the eye, face to face, it is not the way we long to be. True social justice is all of us working together to make sure that no one is unfairly treated and that everyone has equal opportunity. It is not forcibly taking from one and giving to another. It is not singling out a group, mocking it, and trying to make it irrelevant in the social arena. It is not rushing to judgement about a person's motivations but about first respecting the individual and being virtuous towards them.

The uniting force in this country has always been man and woman's desire to be free. Freedom For Americans is committed to be a positive, edifying voice in a society of persistent social destruction. We believe in speaking the truth and relying on facts, not innuendos, hearsay, or irrational hypothesis. And we believe strongly in unity of all human persons, every race, gender, and creed that want everyone to be free. These are some of the principles that have made America great. We relish in them, we promote them, and we ask you to join with us in doing the same.
