Education is one of the most important things anyone can own, but there are a number of students that are falling behind in their work and missing out on the skills that they will need once they finish their formal schooling. Where the curriculum inside the classroom is designed to cover a certain amount of material in a given school year the well meaning teachers are not always able to slow down or give struggling students the support that they need. With 30 children in a classroom many teachers have a difficult time getting through their daily lesson plan without the added responsibility to help the individual students that are falling behind in their work. With the slowed economy many classrooms are understaffed but because of budget cuts districts throughout the country have had to reduce the number of teachers that they hired on before the school year started. As a result there are dozens of teachers applying for every available position and hundreds of applicants that are qualified to teach children but who do not have a job.

These two issues, a lack of funding in the school districts and the overcrowded classrooms making struggling students fall behind is opening an opportunity for some alternative jobs for teachers. By enrolling the children in tutor programs that can help someone that finds school difficult parents can provide the one-on-one attention that their child needs to be successful in the classroom. Beneficial to the licensed professionals that are looking for second jobs for teachers the tutoring or mentoring professionals are able to use their skills and knowledge to generate an income in the tightened educational budget that the majority of school districts around the country are dealing with.

For every open position that is listed by the school board there are hundreds of applicants that are seeking work. And for some learning institutions the extra money for teachers simply does not exist. Yet by applying their skills and knowledge of the classroom to an individual or small group of children that are in need of tutoring teachers that are having difficulty finding work can land the jobs that are providing them with the income that they need. Whether working as a second job for teachers or making it their first line of income individual educators that care about the quality of education that a child receives are able to provide the additional after-school training that many kids need to keep up with their classmates. In an economy that is punishing the future of the many students the alternative jobs for teachers are restoring the hope that high school graduates will be able to move on to college once they have finished their formal educational training.
