Hello rockers, My name is Chris J Brandt and as a student of guitar myself I was always interested in taking guitar lessons to hopefully increase my skills at a faster rate but I was in college and didn't have alotta $$$ if you know what I mean. I finally bit the bullet and went to local teacher and payed $50 an hour, one session per week, for a month, (that's $200;) AND that's a whole lot of keesh for me. Now don't get me wrong he definitely helped me progress in my guitar playing but what I found out was, although a hands on lesson from a local guitar teacher can be very helpful for certain things at times, learning the guitar by paying for hourly sessions is no way to get the "Bang outta your Buck."  For instance, if you are a beginning guitarist or beginner guitarist, (who gives in like me and decides to pay for an hourly session)...If you have a good instructor he will discover what your guitar interests are and some of your guitar influences you want to sound like. Your instructor will probably introduce (relevant to your liking of course) a new lick, chord fingering, plucking or strumming pattern, whatever it may be, and GUESS WHAT? Most likely you won't know how to do it. DON'T WORRY! That's why your there in the first place right. So then you could either spend your hour and $50 (that could have bought oh so many other things) on getting down that one lick or chord. Or option two, your instructor might introduce you to an array of different progressions and techniques that you still will not know how to do AND will probably forget by the next time you pick up your six string... Which better be later that day rockers! My point is that when learning the guitar, repetition and consistency are key, Hmm, seems to be the case with a lot of other things in life huh?
