When Chain Link Is Best

There are many reasons to go with a chain link fence for your home or business. Chain link fences are durable, strong, affordable, and require very little maintenance. They also provide safety and security. Chain link fences come in many styles and colors.

The main reason a property owner will choose chain link fence over other types of fence is price. A brand new chain link fence can be installed for as little as $6 per foot compared to wood ($10-$12 per foot), aluminum or vinyl ($18-$20 per foot). Now they lack the visual appeal of other types of fencing, but if all you are looking for is security and durability then chain link may be the answer for you.

Chain link fences allow owners to have them installed quickly, never have to maintain them, and never have to worry about inclement weather conditions.  With their highly adaptive and durable nature, property owners do not have to worry about their fences rotting after years of use or about the threat of pest infestation. Since chain links are metal, pests such as termites cannot destroy them, unlike their wooden counterparts.

Chain link fencing comes in various heights ranging from 36 inches up to 12 feet in some instances. The height of the fence will depend on the purpose of the fence and local zoning restrictions or laws. Chain link fencing also comes in different thickness or gauge ranging from 6 gauge to 13 gauge with 11 gauge being the most common option. The lower the gauge number, the stronger the fence.

Another thing to decide is whether you want a vinyl coating on your fence. Vinyl coating comes in various colors with black, dark green, and brown being the most common colors. These coatings have two main advantages for property owners. They help the fence blend in to their surroundings better and they provide added protection for children or pets as the coating will cover sharp edges that sometimes can cause cuts or scrapes.

As you can see, there are still many decisions to make when deciding to put a chain link fence on your property. For help or more information on the right instance to use chain link fencing, please contact us at www.eastcoastfencemb.com.
