Hamai Consulting intends to indirectly improve child development outcomes by increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of programs and organizations which provide services directly to children and families. We are unique in our collaborative and empathetic approach to providing our services. The following four principles guide our work: ** Value and Use All Types of Evidence: Evidence is a broad term, which includes qualitative data, quantitative data, individual cases, and many other sources of information. ** Design Realistic Projects Which Build Capacity: Our services should create a feedback cycle that improves the quality of the organization and program in addition to assessing the effectiveness of yielding desired outcomes. Participatory, contextually-based strategies recognize the strengths and opportunities amongst all stakeholders, utilizing everyone's perspective to build greater capacity within the program. Projects should not be such a burden that they drain a program of its strength; they should leave a program with the systems and information in place to become stronger. ** Utilize an Adaptive, Emergent Approach: Programs and organizations should be designed to be responsive to the needs of their clients. Research and evaluations should be, as well. Our services must allow for subtle change over time, mirroring shifts in the program or organization. ** Evaluation Is Ongoing: An evaluation does not have a specific end point. It should continually examine how the program works, the nature of the outcomes of the program, and how to improve the way the program works. The evaluation is a tool for managing a program and measuring accountability.
