I created My House Doctor. Com in 1980 for homeowners in Northern Michigan serving Roscommon, Crawford, Oscoda, Ogemaw, Gladwin, Clare, Missaukee, Wexford and Kalkaska Counties. In choosing a contractor make sure he/she is licensed by the State of Michigan and is properly insured. Most licensed and unlicensed contractors carry Liability Insurance; Liability Insurance protects the contractor, it does NOT PROTECT the Homeowner! Homeowners need the added protection of Property Damage and Workman's Compensation Insurances in case their property is damaged and/or a workman is hurt during the construction period! You should DEMAND a copy of their Property Damage Insurance and a copy of their State License! The most important issue in remodeling is choosing the Best Value, not the Lowest Price! Today's policy, by many financial institutions, is to throw out both the high and low bid. This is exactly where My House Doctor. Com wants to be!
