Message from the Business
McHale family entered the urban pest control industry in 1971. JP McHale Sr purchased Ossining Exterminating Company from a fellow correction officer at Sing Sing Prison, where they both were employed for over thirty years. He renamed the company JP McHale Exterminating Service Inc. immediately. JP Sr developed his platform for business growth through cultivation of existing clients, colleagues at Sing Sing Correctional facility, and leveraging contacts from a previous entrepreneurial effort, a beer tap cleaning business, all while still employed as a correction officer. He retired from Sing Sing Correctional facility in 1984 and immediately commenced building the entity on a full time basis. Recognizing the potential of this important industry JP McHale Sr. insisted his children attend accredited universities if they wanted to join the family.
