Sterling Silver Studio offers a variety of dance, twirling and performing arts classes for children and adults. The Boutique at Sterling Silver is a retail dance shop that is open to the public that carries a wide variety of products for dancers, twirlers, skaters, cheer teams and other performing artists.
If most dance studios seem to have qualified, friendly teachers, experience teaching children and a big show at the end of the year, arent they all pretty much the same? Does it really matter which place you decide to enroll at? The answer is yes. There are 4 main things that can make a huge difference in the quality of instruction your child receives, the amount of extra work and hassles the parents must deal with and the overall enjoyment and satisfaction of being involved with a performing arts program. Here are 4 things that every parent should consider before deciding on a dance studio for their child. 1. What type of dance floor is used? Dance is a very physical activity that requires a lot of jumping, which can put stress on bones and joints. Most dance footwear does not provide any cushioning or support, so the shock of dance movement can place a lot of pressure on the knees, and back of a dancer. The best way to prevent against potential injury is by choosing a studio with a professional floating floor." A floating floor is a dance floor that rests on a system of high-density foam, to absorb the shock of jumping. A high-density foam base is superior to a sprung floor, which usually consists of a wood structure built on the regular floor. All of our studios have floating floors that have thousands of high density foam blocks under the floor surface. Our dance studio has a marley top surface that is imported. Our gymnasium has a floating wood floor. Our special floors help to reduce the risk of injuries and to allow students to dance longer without getting tired. 2. What is the size of the class? If a dance class has fewer students in it, each child will receive more personalized attention, learn more and have more fun. With younger students it is easier for a teacher to maintain control over the class and make sure each student understands the concepts and instructions. Our smaller class sizes make sure that no fundamental concepts are being missed. A smaller class size also allows our teachers to ensure that students are not developing bad habits or improper technique. In addition to offering small class sizes, we provide student assistants in all of our younger student classes. Our student assistants are high-school or college-aged students who have demonstrated advanced skills in dance and/or twirling and who share a passion for teaching. Our assistants are aspiring teachers who love performing arts and working with children. 3. Can I get immediate assistance and customer service? In many studios the teacher or the studio owner conducts classes and does the administration. By trying to do two jobs at once, the class may suffer by the teacher having to use class time for customer service issues, or the studio may have no customer service available if the teacher is in a class. To have a good experience it is important to choose a studio that can assist you with details like costumes or schedules, even if a teacher is occupied in a class. All of our studios have office staff available during class times, so you can have immediate assistance for any customer service issues you may have. Our teachers are left free to focus on teaching so the class can always have their undivided attention. If you are unable to come in during our class hours, our website is always up to date with newsletters that can be downloaded, a calendar of events, and our staff can be contacted via email at any time through our contact us page. 4. What can this studio offer my child and my family? Sterling Silver Studio ha expanded class choices and times for busy families. We offer classes Monday through Saturday. It is possible for parents to schedule classes for multiple students at the same time. We offer multiple family member and multi-class discounts. We offer classes for parents as well as children and teens. Each family with a child enrolled at Sterling Silver Studio receives one free adult class card every year! This helps busy families save time and money.? Parents are welcome to drop students off for classes at our studio. Our circle drive makes pick-up and drop-off easy, and there is plenty of free parking. If parents choose to stay during their child's class, we offer a comfortable lobby complete with television viewing monitors so that parents can watch their child's entire class. We offer tables and free wireless internet if you would like to catch up on e-mails or work while your child is in class. The complimentary coffee is always on! Our website is updated frequently, and stores all of our monthly newsletters and has a calendar of events so that you have 24 hour access to the information you need to make your class and recital experience easy and hassle free. With on-line registration and monthly auto-pay options, parents never have to stand in line to register or write a check for classes. Best of all, with the auto-pay option, there will never be late fees. We provide a dance shop right in our lobby. Sterling Silver Studio is a performing arts school whose teachers have been sharing their love of the arts with children and adults throughout Duluth, Superior and surrounding areas for more than 20 years. Sterling Silver Studio is a family owned and operated school that was founded right here in the Twin Ports in 1991. Sterling Silver Studio started as a twirling corps and over the years, grew into the performing arts school that it is today. Our faculty offers a wide spectrum of classes in dance, twirling, music and theatre to children and adults of all ages.
We take pride in our community and understand the needs of the families who live here. We have had the opportunity to work with thousands of families over the years, and take great pride in knowing that adults that studied at Sterling Silver Studio as children, now bring their own little ones back to Sterling Silver to learn, grow and develop a passion for the arts. Our faculty is committed to educating and instilling confidence in each student that walks through our doors. All of the classes taught at Sterling Silver Studio are highly interactive. Our goal is to make sure that each student has fun while they learn proper technique and become comfortable with their own creative expression. The arts are for everyone! We offer numerous performance opportunities for all of our students. With three annual recitals, local & regional parade productions, community involvement events and national performance opportunities for members of our Recreational Program; and competition participation opportunities for members of our Performing Arts Company, each and every student will have the chance to shine in his or her own way! We even offer moms and dads the opportunity to perform with their children in our annual spring recital's Parent & Child number!
