Chef Shigeo Lee's Akasaka has been a fixture of The Japanese Restaurant Community in Seattle for nearly twenty five years. Based just south of Seatac Airport in Federal Way Washington since 1987 and offering some of Seattle's most innovative Japanese fare, Akasaka has long been considered one of Puget Sound's Finest Japanese Restaurants. Chef Lee began studying Japanese and Korean cooking in the early eighties, beginning his apprenticeship at the now defunct Shogun restaurant in Federal Way Washington in 1982. In the mid eighties Chef Lee joined Nikko Japanese Restaurant in South Seattle where he studied under Shiro Kashiba, Seattle's most celebrated Sushi Chef. Akasaka strives to provide the finest and freshest Japanese and Korean dishes to patrons from all over Puget Sound.

I have to take some exception with one of the earlier reviews - I've been going to Akasaka for years and have had more than my share of sake there - I've never had a watered-down sake nor have I been charged $17 unless it was... (more)

On a recent visit here, we ordered a large chilled sake. When it came out, it was obviously watered down! The waitress sampled it and agreed and kindly got us the real thing. However, they still got the better of us by not... (more)

Exploring for sushi without driving to Seattle led us to Akasaka in Federal Way. The only benefit that we found was that it was close to where we live. About a mile. That's it. Mind you, we were looking for sushi, not any... (more)

I was pleasantly surprised by the food at this place. I know the Korean population in the Federal Way area is high, but this place is very good. The quality of the sushi was excellent and the hot pots were very tasty. I... (more)
