Given that I prefer the free-form style of crafting, the term "custom built" cannot always be applied to my work. But if the customer can provide the idea or a drawing, I can usually get exceptionally close to their wishes. I also use a variety of finishes, though tung oil is the most common. Depending on the particular piece or the customers preference, I also use orange oil, beeswax, carnuba wax, spar urethane and, occassionally, canola oil.

Business Description
All the products at Twisted Trees TX are handcrafted from seasoned wood, most of which has been dead for over 30 years. I have never been able to justify killing a living tree to satisify my personal ambitions. Many of the trees I use are 100 + years old and the majority were killed as a result of pasture reclamation. But even when dead, the mesquite continues to change with the effects of the elements. Natural decay produces chemicals and enzymes that transform not only the density of the wood but also the colors and texture. What I do is remove the infirmities and non-viable portions of the piece and sand and polish what is left to achieve a truly unique specimen that the buyer will be proud to own.
