You haven't lived until you try bike riding in eastern oregon in the winter. For instance yesterday was bright and sunny by the time I got on my bike and life was good. I did take e o precautions however. I own a great pair of insulated shoes (water proof+/-), and excellent heavy duty rain coat, and nice warm legging/tights. My cyclocross bike has studded tires. I needed them all, as before I got home (a 26 mile journey), I experienced the sun I spoke of, clouds, wind, rain, and finally snow. The ride was only 26 miles long, yet epic. Thanks to the aformentioned e o riding accouterments I arrived home moderately comfortable and very happy.
