The facts on fad diets are shocking. If you have considered a diet, there are some things you should know about fad diets and one of the main things is that they don't work! You may try a diet for a while only to realize they are shory lived and you end up gaining the weight back. Some cases you gain more weight back then what you initially lost. One of the reasons this happens is that diets take off water weight but then they put the water back on as soon as you go back to eating regular foods. The facts on fad diets are they just don’t work. An example of this would be if you were to go on a high protein diet and you cut out carbs from your diet. What ends up happening is the protein triggers a response in your body that causes you to start going to the rest room a lot and getting rid of your fluids. You start to dispel all the extra water weight in your body. The problem is, as you start to eat regular food again, you start to gain your weight back again, and in some people who are dieting this can trigger anxiety in the brain where you're afraid that the weight is coming back so you try to have more high proteins in your diet to keep the water off. This is the wrong way to diet because what happens now is that you're affecting your kidneys by having so much protein in them.


Some Effects Of Fad Diets

Some fad diets are known to be harmful to the body. Another thing that can happen with diets like this is that some will cut out carbs. You then realize that you have no energy, because you've taken out the carbs which were the fuel for your body and supplied the energy to get around and to work out at the gym. You may slim down some but the effects are only tempory.

Another fact on fad diets are that you may go through withdrawal. These diets can have you going through extreme sugar withdrawals. For example you can try doing a diet where you only juice. As your body goes into extreme withdrawal, it starts thinking that you're going through a starvation mode, so you're your body literally starts shutting down while you're trying to fuel it with so-called nutrients, but you have to be careful with this because it can affect the kidneys adversely.


Spike Your Sugar Levels

Another problem that can happen related to fad diets is sugar can be a factor. Let's just say you start eating a lot of protein bars which are high in sugar, because you heard about this diet that requires a lot of protein. You eat these protein bars and you're getting a lot of sugar and you’re getting a rush. But what ends up happening is as you come down, then you start realizing that you're having issues with your sugar because you were ingesting so much sugar in your diet.


Other problems with fad diets can include being to extreme like the cabbage diet, or the grapefruit diet. When you have only have raw grapefruit its possible to have the following problem that few people know. Some places I have read that grapefruit produces kidney stones, so while you're trying to diet to lose weight, you're also damaging your kidneys. The dangers with dieting like this are you have to be very careful because some diets are extremely harmful to the body while making it sound like you can lose weight.

For losing weight your best course is to cut back on food intake, drink more water and exercise. You should always talk to your doctor before starting your diet and exercise plans. They may be able to suggest some things that will help you lose weight.
