Fishing Oahe

by Chuck Gray of Grays Guide Service LLC: Fishing Guide Pierre SD ( 20-Apr-2012 )

The 2012 Walleye Season on Lake Oahe, Pierre SD, is almost upon us.  We have started taking reservations and will have the first guided trips in May.  Although the weather can be unpredictable in the Spring, the Walleye fishing has proven to be outstanding.

Also, let's not leave out the Small Mouth Bass fisherman. The spring action for Small Mouth, as the water warms, has proven to be some of the best in the state.  It just gets better and better each year, with many fish caught over 16 inches.

Last year is now in the record books and WHAT A YEAR IT WAS!  The fishing on Lake Oahe was the best I can remember.  Limits of Walleye, Bass, and Northern Pike were available for the taking.

The Walleye fishing was great all through the summer and into the fall. It seemed like any place we stopped and any depth we fished we caught Walleyes.  A lot of 18,19, and 20 inch fish were caught throughout the summer.

The fall was a different story!  The small and average fish were still available, just like in the summer months, but August, September, and October proved to be the best fishing ever.  Many 26, 27, 28, and even an occasional 29 inch fish were taken by the customers in my boat.  Check out the pictures on the Web Site:        http://www.graysguideservice.com

Don't forget about the fall fishing.  I can even arrange Pheasant Hunting and Walleye Fishing combo days in October and November.
