There are so many puppy mills out there that it scares me. I've personally seen these facilities first hand and they aren't pleasant. Small kennels stacked up on top of each other filled with as many puppies and adult dogs as they possibly can put in there. It's border line of breaking animal right laws, but as long as they have food, water and shelter there's nothing that you can do. I can't believe that people actually buy form these places but they do and that's what keeps them going.
These puppies from a puppy mill may have developed health conditions or might be bringing a sickness to other pets when brought home, it's very scary to think about. That's why I personally go to see the dogs environment that he/she is living in and to see what type of temperament they have before considering a purchase as a breeder.
I've been reading quite a bit of blogs and articles on the puppy mills and even some cases where they were taken from a good facility and later died months down the road. That's why I recommend that all puppies are taken to a Vet for check-ups in their puppy stage and all vaccines are kept current for life. At our facility we give all shots required for the first 6-8 weeks and do a Vet check-up before they even leave our facility. We will even do the micro-chip for a small fee which is a good thing to do for the more expensive dogs for tracking and identifying purposes.
