All dogs need to go out and eliminate several times a day. Regular physical exercise, mental stimulation, and social interaction, are also essential. Puppies, of course need almost constant supervision. Although many well trained adult dogs can be left alone for up to twelve hours, it is not a good idea to leave your pet alone for such a long time on a regular basis. You may wish to hire a pet sitter or dog walker, even better enroll your dog in "doggy daycare". Keeping your dog outdoor, even in a fenced-in yard or run, when no one is at home is not recommended, as it can be dangerous and isolating.
