Sugar Scrubs vs Salt Scrubs! Is Sugar feeding Cancer Cells?

by Lisa Kaiser of The Good Stuff ( 11-Jun-2012 )

Many years ago my father had gone to the doctor for a regular check-up, which led to more appointments for tests being done on him.   The doctor’s “surmised” the possibility of my father having cancer of the lungs, prostate cancer and perhaps emphysema.  Apparently they were not that concerned about him because the “Next available appointment” wasn’t until four months down the road.  This angered me to no end. You would think if they suspected someone of having cancer it would be an urgent matter to test and get resolved, wouldn't you? (My father's story is a whole other matter)

I began studying everything I could about cancer, natural treatments and even enrolled myself in a Holistic Practioner’s Course.  While the tests over the years continued to be inconclusive as to just what my father had, the doctors aggressively prescribed one medication after another for him, which always led to more medications to be taken for all of the side effects my father was experiencing.

As I learned about cancer, I learned it was not this “disease” we needed to find a cure for, it was more of an “end result” of other things in our body not functioning correctly, becoming stagnant, and cells that did not take a normal course of “life.”  With the many things I read and studied in regards to cancer, “sugar” seemed to come into the picture quite often.  It appeared that cancer had a liking to sugar and or glucose.  Cancer has been thought to be the replacement of the respiration of oxygen in normal body cells by a fermentation of sugar.  Cancer cells absorb sugar more easily.  The growth of cancer is when the cancer cells convert glucose into energy without using oxygen.

I have no doubt the medical profession has been and will continue to debate the issue of cancer for years to come.  I personally have lost most faith in western medicine today which is the primary reason I turned to making my own natural products years ago.

With regards to a sugar scrub vs. salt scrubs, I have come to this conclusion and it is my own personal opinion.  While sugar tastes good, it really has no nutritional value.  You have to remember, whatever you put on the outside of your skin, becomes absorbed INTO your body and your blood stream.  IF, sugar can have an effect to potentially “feed” cancer cells, why then would you put it on your body to be absorbed into your system?  I also thought about those who could be subject to skin cancer.  If sugar could possibly feed cancer cells, why would I want to sell something for people to use that “could” have the potential to contribute to a life-threatening condition?

On the other hand, I do know that there are a great number of vital nutrients that our body needs within salts.  Dead Sea salt is especially high in vital minerals that our bodies actually need for healthy functioning.  When you put the salts on your skin or in your bath, they are absorbed into your body and system, giving vital essential nutrients.  Not only do they provide these nutrients, but salts and also known for their medicinal qualities for healing.

It is for these reasons that we stay away from making anything that has sugar in it and focus solely on using salts.  Look at our pdf booklet on our webpage under our Ingredient section for further information on various healthy ingredients.  www.TheGoodStuffSkinCare.com
