What The Heck!

by Stephen R. Parrish, MSC/MFCT of Olive Branch Psychotherapy ( 22-Jul-2010 )

Often in my practice at Olive Branch Psychotherapy, I encounter clients who have been in the care of a physician for many years who have been prescribed medication for various reasons (most often depression, bipolar, and ADHD).  Many of these individuals have never received a formal evaluation for the condition for which they are being treated, and often their condition was a result of past trauma or situational events that underscore the condition.     In some of these cases, I question the appropriateness and/or necessity of these medications. I have concern that side effects of prescribed drugs can be devastating, if not deadly. I also believe a psychotherapist, trained in the use of EMDR, serves the client better.

Recently, Sean McPhee, National Awareness Coordinator for DrugWatch.com, contacted me with a website worth your review. Their description of this site is as follows:    DrugWatch.com is a comprehensive Web site database featuring extensive information about thousands of different medications and drugs currently on the market or previously available worldwide. DrugWatch.com includes up-to-date information about prescription and over-the-counter medications and includes details about associated side effects to aid in the protection of patients and consumers.

If you have any questions regarding the medication you are presently taking, please consider checking this site out . If you would like to set up an appointment with me for psychotherapy, you can contact me by turning to my contact page at Olive Branch Psychotherapy .
