Recieving a botched hair color job is high up on the list of woman's greatest fears . Unfortunately, some of us have been vicitims of colorist's artistic whims or a rush-job casuslty at a factory-like beauty salon. But a session with ur colorist should never be  scary or uncomfortable . With color processing ranging up to hundereds of dollars, it is important to find someone trustworthy.

Hair colorist Micha B., offers the right combonation of a relaxed setting and color exspertise. To Micha B., hair coloring is a science. "chemistry" to be exact. With 30 years of hair color exsperiance , he is one of only 2090 American Board Master Colorists nationwide. Why are there so few? Success distracts some colorist while other are too intimidated by the grueling eight hour exam ( up to six months of preperation is needed). The American Board Certified Hair Colorist website proclaims; "[Certified hairstylist] will never compromise the conditin of your hair for the sake of being creative." Ah, what a relief.

While Micha B.'s focus is on "exquisite hair color." he  equally concerns himself with his clients comfort. His in home private appointments work best for celebs and self-conscious women .

Here, Micha B. speaks to FWD about the importance of color maintenance and this season's newest looks:

FWD: What sre the best ways to ensure natural looks with coloring?

MB: To learn about natural hair color, we study childrens hair up to five years old -hair that is as natural as it gets. Plus, by looking at the clients eye pigment we can determine the correct base. Eye color determines how far we ca take a client to achieve the right color. For example, on someone with light blue eyes, i will nothave to lift the hair color with a bleach to achieve natural tone hightlights. Also, I use a technique called micro-slicing (working with one slice of hair at a time ) which is more natural technique to weaving (under and over). I also don't hightlight below the occipital bone in the back of the head beacause when you do, it looks fake and too old fashion. Darker hair below the occipital bone looks more natural, as if the hair were highlighted by the sun.

FWD: What is the best way to maintain color at home?

MB: Using the right products is very important. Many women get an expensive professional hair color service and then go home and put a cheap shampoo in their hair.Everything that's removed during the color process must be put back into the hair . Cheaper products give instant gratification because they make the hair extremely soft. But that doent mean they condition the hair..The bottom line: Use professional hair color products. The chances of someone picking out the correct product for their hair are slim. As a professional, by knowing your hair texture and the kind of color process you had , I can recommend to you what ur texture needs.
