Long Island is a world famous destination. A quick Google of Long Island brought up a long list of attractions that range from amusement parks, aquariums, art galleries, beaches, bowling, comedy clubs, fishing, museums, parks, scuba diving, sky diving, theater and performing arts, and zoos and animal sanctuaries. While all this is true and it would be almost impossible to run out of things to do and see, Long Island is also home to almost 7.5 million people. These people live, work and play on the 17th most populated island in the world using everyday services as such as Long Island plumbing, doctors, dentist, salons, grocery stores, post offices and banks. For visitors it is hard to image everyday life in such a place.
Long Island is home to more people than Jamaica and Ireland
Seven and a half million people live in this lively city making it more populated than the islands of Jamaica, Ireland, and Hokkaido in Japan. If Long Island were a state, it would rank the 13th most populated in the Country right after Virginia and the most densely populated. This makes the seriousness of a good infrastructure vital to the prosperity of the island. With that many people living so close together, mostly in high-rise apartment complexes, the importance of services, food, medical attention, and sanitation is high.
Airports are include in the Infrastructure of the Island
Two airports help to link Long Island to the rest of the world, LaGuardia and JFK International Airport. There are also 13 tunnels and 9 bridges that connect to the other three boroughs of New York City. Ferries are also available. As the day turns to night in the city that never sleeps, thousands of restaurants open their doors to feed the millions of hungry people that visit them each day. The amount of people and animals and their needs that have to be met in a single day is staggering.
The Importance of good Service Personal to the City
Can you imagine if the plumbing went out in a single block of high-rise apartment buildings? The fall-out would be huge. No one could shower, wash, drink, do laundry, run dishwashers, or cook. Long Island plumbing is just part of the multi-faceted service infrastructure that keeps this city up and running. What if the electricity went out for any lengthy period? It would cause havoc to the lives of the citizens. You know stories of how impressive the New York Fire Departments and Police Departments are. The stories that became known after 9-11 are incredible.
There is Nowhere Quite like Long Island
You would be hard-pressed to find a more loyal citizenship than the people of Long Island are. They are fiercely proud of their home. While millions of visitors come and go each year, they remain, true and steadfast in their love for their home, their country, their city, and all the services and departments that keep it up and running so smoothly like the police, fire department, doctors, nurses, electricians and even plumbers on Long Island. There is no where else in the world quite like Long Island.
