Why are golf clubs so expensive and can they really help my game? This seems to be an age old question that so many golfers have to ponder, well I thought I would try to come up with a little relief for all those golfers. My name is Bob Boeye and I have been a golf professional since 1979 and have been in the manufacturing business for over 30 years. So the question is why are OEM (original equipment manufacturers) clubs so expensive and will they help to improve my game? The main answer is the up to 70% of their cost comes from advertising and research and development, and as far as helping your game, that all depends on how they fit your swing.
There are only 10 foundaries in the world that make 90% of all the clubheads that are used in manufacturing golf clubs in the industry from OEM companies to custom-club shops. The important thing is how the clubs are assembeled, that is the process of selecting clubhead-shaft and grip for each club. The important thing is that all clubs need to be matched in flex to each other as well as to fit your swing. Unfortunatley this is not done in the manufucturing of a majotity of clubs in the industry, that is why you might love your 7 iron and can not hit your 5 iron at all, they do not match each othe in flex. That is why you need to find a professional clubmaker to help you improve your game, armed with properly fitted clubs then you can work with a golf professional on learning a repeatable swing to enjoy this great game of golf.
