In today’s world having any kind of medical supplies is not just for the EMTs or police. You will find portable medical kits that contain all kinds of things that are not found in your standard first aid kit. An example of this is can be found in many office buildings as they are starting to install stations where you can find a mobile AED device. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it is a portable defibulator that is used to restart someone’s heart. There are many different places that supply such equipment.
First Aid Training
Most people learn basic first aid in school, the boy and girl scout programs or some other organization. This first aid training gives you the basics of keeping someone alive whether they are choking, bleeding or have stopped breathing. If you haven’t ever learned first aid, then it’s about time you did and if you do know first aid, keep your training up to date.
Additional Training.
In addition to the basic first aid, more people than every are being trained in different organizations to respond to emergencies. Naturally we have the EMTs or paramedics who have been doing this for years. But now the police, search and resecue, security guards, firemen, soldiers and even the boy scouts are being trained on how to use different equipment and more advanced techniques of first response or first call.
The right Tools for the Job
As previously stated, more places and more people are using different medical supplies above what is found in you basic first aid kit. There are many kits for different training and a host of situations. There are kits that have just the bare essentials but are slightly better than a first aid kit. An example of this would be an ALS kit, which in addition to the standard items contains sterile burn sheets, splinters, and blood stoppers activated charcoal nasopharyngeal airway kits and ammonia inhalants. Some kits have additional things in them like a mobile AED, turakits, splints and a whole host of other items. These kits are being placed through office buildings, security vehicles, restaurants and anywhere that people gather in large numbers depending on the company that you work for and the area in which you live.
